  • Many 2006-2015 MacBook Pro models have practical upgrade paths.
  • Some non-Retina 2011-2016 models can support large-capacity storage options.
  • Available capacity can vary, including 1TB, 2TB or higher options where supported.

Important limits on newer MacBooks

  • Many 2016 and later MacBook Pro models use soldered storage.
  • Several newer MacBook Air and Apple silicon models are not internally SSD-upgradeable.
  • If internal upgrade is not possible, we can still discuss backup, data and external storage options.

Performance claims depend on the MacBook model, SSD type and system interface. Some SSDs advertise very high read/write speeds, but real-world speed is limited by the computer hardware.
